From Jan 1, 2018, nationals of all countries receive visa on arrival at Kigali International Airport and all land borders.

2. Apply through the Embassy in Washington D.C. by:

  • Submitting an application form by mail ( FedEX). For East African Touristic visa form click here.
  • Type, eligibility, validity and fee of visas  click HERE.
  • Include a prepaid FEDEX self-addressed traceable return envelope.
  • Include applicant’s valid passport

Visa requirements

  • A passport valid for not less than six months.
  • Completed visa application form, for EATV Visa applicants, please fill the EATV application form,
  • Provide 1 colored photo passport - with a white background. All facial features must be visible and clear. No hats
  • Provide supporting documents: flight itinerary, hotel reservation, invitation letter
  • Provide tour agency or travel itinerary (if any)
  • Money order or Cashier’s check of the fee payable to the Embassy of Rwanda (this fee is non-refundable and non-transferable). If applying with the Embassy, the Embassy does not accept cash or personal checks.
  • Prepaid, FEDEX Self-addressed, traceable return envelope. Non-traceable envelopes will not be accepted.

Visa fees and duration:

  • Holiday/Tourist visa (V1) and Family visit visa (V2) are 30 days single-entry visas with a fee of 50USD, and 90 days multiple-entries with a fee of 70USD, these visas do not apply to group tourism, please see V8 for more information on group tourism fees
  • Diplomatic visa (V3-1) is a 30-day single entry visa, given to diplomats visiting Rwanda for official business, free of charge
  • Conference visa (V5) is a 30-days single entry visa with a fee of 50USD
  • East African Visa (V11) is a 90-days, multiple entry visa with a fee of 100USD.
  • Reciprocity: Long-term visitor visa (V12) is up to 10-years, exclusively given to American citizens who visits Rwanda often and holding valid American passports for now, with a fee of 160USD and can only be applied for through the Embassy of Rwanda in Washington D.C. This visa is valid for a period that may be up to ten (10) years renewable. The holder of this visa is entitled to stay in Rwanda for a period not exceeding six (6) months renewable upon valid reasons. The holder of this visa is not allowed to work.
