So much is happening in Rwanda, and we're glad to share some of the latest highlights with you. Among these, we've compiled some of recent developments, including engaging conferences, thrilling tournaments. You will also find Rwanda’s stand on some regional matters.
President Kagame presents his report to AU
On February 17, 2024, H.E President Paul Kagame joined, at African Union Headquarters, Heads of State and Government from across the African continent for the opening ceremony of the 37th African Union Summit. He presented his report as leader of the Institutional Reform of the African Union. Key outcome: Peace Fund revitalized with $400 million mobilized, member states contributions at an all time high. President Kagame also witnessed the handover of the Chairmanship from President Azali Assoumani of the Comoros to President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani of Mauritania. During the Mini-Summit on DRC, President Kagame delivered clear messages.

Rwanda and EU Commission sign Mining agreement
Rwanda and the European Union Commission signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Sustainable Raw Materials Value Chains. The agreement aims to boost Rwanda's mining sector and contribute to transitioning towards a greener, more sustainable global economy. "This agreement further guarantees the quality and traceability of our raw materials, reaffirming Rwanda as a reliable trade partner." Minister Vincent Biruta.
Rwanda clarifies security posture
Rwanda expresses concerns by the abandonment of the Luanda and Nairobi processes by the Government of the Democratic of the Republic of Congo and by the International Community’s indifference to DRC’s dramatic military build-up.

Rwanda will also seek clarification from the U.S. Government regarding its recent statement on DRC of February 17, 2024 contradicting the confidence-building process initiated by the U.S. Director of National Intelligence in November 2023.
Tour du Rwanda
The 16th edition of the Tour du Rwanda is now in progress! The race kicked off on Sunday, February 18, with the presence of four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome. Froome isn't the sole participant in Tour du Rwanda with Tour de France experience; seven other riders share this distinction. This underscores the Tour du Rwanda's growing stature, not only within Africa but also on the global stage.

Kigali Triennial Festival
From February 16 to 25, Kigali hosts the first 'Kigali Triennial Festival,' bringing together over 200 artists from 25 nations to celebrate African arts and culture. Themed "Where art, knowledge, and economy converge," the festival showcases music, design, dance, theater, gastronomy, and tech.
e-Governance Conference
The Africa eGovernance Conference is the premier digital transformation conference connecting public and private sector leaders in Africa.
The Conversation of this event that will take place in Kigali from March 12 to 14, 2024 will center on how digital governance through public sector ICT related service delivery can bring social inclusion and sustainable development to the continent.
The conference will also feature an exhibition where global technology players including Google, Microsoft, Oracle and others from Africa will showcase the latest technologies available for governments to enhance transparency and integrity in service delivery.

Rwanda's Mineral Revenue Surges by 43%
Rwanda's mineral export revenue increased by a growth of 43 percent in 2023 reaching a total of over $1.1 billion. This figure marks a significant rise from the recorded revenue of $772 million in 2022.
